Obituary for Eric Porter

Print
PORTER, Eric John-born March 20, 1930 and passed away peacefully on morning of Sunday, September 9, 2018 with his close friends beside him and his sister and husband tied in by phone. He started work as a mechanic but his heart was really farming and raising Percheron horses. Eric was a tough man with a soft heart and with a crazy sense of humour. He lost his first wife Evelyn, then in recent years Marj. His mum, dad, 2 brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Thank you to Dr. Patel, Lori and the hospital for tender care. Staff at his brief home, Adelaide Place, Ceasar, Cayleigh and Evan, who he especially loved, plus all those other special, kind, helpful ones. You know who you are. Eric was not a religious man but we know from Bible verses he is conscious of nothing. The hope is a resurrection when the earth returns to the original purpose as we pray for, in Lord’s Prayer, when God's will is done on the earth. He will be missed by his sister Barb (Ray) and many friends. In keeping with Eric's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a funeral. His ashes will be sprinkled on land he loved. If desired, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated and may be arranged through the STODDART FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay K9V 2L1 (705-324-3205). Online condolences may be directed to www.stoddartfuneralhome.com
