HICKEY, Thomas Joseph, better known as Tom, passed away peacefully with loved one's around him early morning on October 12th, 2018. He lived a long life passing away at the age of 84. Tom was always a fighter entering this world at only three pounds; he was born in Mimico to John and Helen Hickey. Tom is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Jean Hickey (nee Taylor). Tom's four children Michael (Deborah), Paul, Christopher (Andrea), and Kathleen (Mark) were the light of his life. Tom will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Matthew (Anick), Ryan (Rebecca), Sarah, Caitlin (Jordan), Laura, Caleb, and Josiah and five great-grandchildren. Tom is survived by his brother Steve (Carolyn) Hickey, and predeceased by his sisters Katherine Smith, and Barbara Sandford. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Tom had a successful career in purchasing and was a graduate of St. Michael's college in Toronto. Tom was an avid gardener, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and old cars. He was a long-standing member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister. His visitation will be on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, at the Stoddart Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 24 Mill St., Lindsay K9V 2L1 (705-324-3205). Tom will have a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 17th, 2018 at 11 AM, at St. Mary's Church, Lindsay with a reception to follow afterwards. Tom's interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Kinmount. Parish prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7 PM.
