Obituary for Germaine Eyres

EYRES, Colette "Germaine" (née Paquette/Angiers) - May 3, 1934 - June 2, 2022.  Our beautiful mother passed away at the Country Estates Retirement Home with the spiritual help of her son Brad who gave her comfort and peace on her final journey. She was the youngest daughter of Reta (Bryant) and Samuel Paquette and sister to Richard, Yvonne Carroll, Samuel and Clayton all predeceased. Germaine was married to Donald Angiers for 12 years before he died in a car accident in 1967, parents to Jackie O’Connell (Mike), Brad (predeceased 2019) Dianne, Cathy Ferguson (Tom Litherland), Reg (Sheila), Joannie Nicholls (Al Bales) and stepmom to Wayne (Noella). Mom was lucky enough to find love a second time when she married James Eyres (predeceased 2019) they were married for 35 wonderful years stepmother to April Martin, Randy (Jayne), Jamie (Donna Lynne) and Jill (Gord). She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother and had an enormous love for each and everyone of them many of whom she babysat and many other children. She adored all of her nieces and nephews and their spouses.

She was an awesome baker and cook, butter tarts and pies were her specialty and she could whip up a gourmet meal in no time at all. She loved the land, farming and animals had a green thumb and always enjoyed giving garden tours of her beautiful flowers she also had a talent for drawing and painting. Family gatherings, friends and neighbours stopping by for a chat and a cup of coffee, Caesar Saturday’s with her nieces and their friends and a rowdy game of euchre with who ever wanted to play were very important to her. She was a very energetic woman and a bit of a firecracker she called a spade a spade and through her lifetime there was much heartache but she never lost sight of her faith. She was a blessing and a gift to us.
