Obituary for Doris Rea

Doris Eugenie Rea, ~ While we always knew this day would come for a woman who lived to be over 101 years old, it is with sadness the family announce her passing in Lindsay on Saturday, May 8, 2021. Born in Toronto and living much of her life at Balsam Lake where she enjoyed the water, Doris had a great love for gardening, birds, a very talented artist, and a wonderful Christian faith. In her early years she owned and operated a company Doris Wood Dresses manufacturing dresses for dolls for many years. Entered into rest in Lindsay on Saturday May 8, 2021 at the age of 101. Doris Wood was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence Rea (1991). Doris was loved by her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her sister Eunice Wood. Doris had such enthusiasm for her life. How she got so much fun and pleasure out of doing things and seeing people. Doris loved painting canvas and cards and even with her eyesight being such an impairment she pressed on, long after most people would have given up. She showed many how much fun you could have in life and how in the end life slows right down for you. A family interment following Covid rules of only 10 people, will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery Kirkfield. The family of Doris would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at 140 William Street Retirement Residence for the care and love they have given her all these years also Dr. Chris Jackson for his support and care. Funeral care entrusted to Stoddart Funeral Home, Lindsay.
