Obituary for Emmie Elizabeth Vaughan

Vaughan, Emmie E.
January 3, 1921 - January 23, 2022

Passed away peacefully at the age of 101 in her home at William Place Retirement Residence in Lindsay. Loving wife of the late George A.T. Vaughan (2013) for 51 years. Dear Mother of Danny Doman (Diane), Diane Holder, Malcolm Vaughan, Carolanne "Jennifer" Grieve-Winiarski (James), Sandra Hood (Michael), and predeceased by her daughters, Doris L. Rooney (2009), and Barbara Reid (2012). She was predeceased by her parents, William Henry French and Emma (née Mercer) French, and her siblings, Delphine, Douglas, Jessie Doris, Gladys, William, Annie, Roy, Albert, and Malcolm. She is survived by 140 Grandkids, Great Grandkids, and Great-Great Grandkids, all of whom she was very proud of and loved equally.

Emmie was born in Coley's Point, NFLD and from there the family resided in Corner Brook until moving to Toronto in 1944, then to Lindsay where she resided until her passing. She was a long-time employee for 15 years at the Ross Memorial Hospital where she retired in 1990 at the age of 69. She was a beautiful kind soul that touched everyone who  had the honour to have known her. She was a woman who always had a smile, never complained or spoke a bad word of anyone. She was a very witty lady who had an amazing sense of humour and loved to make everyone laugh. She was so unique in that her experiences, words, wisdom, kindness and beauty would be an asset for anyone to learn from. Her love for her family was so deep and inspiring that even till her last days, she still communicated through Facebook, letters and cards. She loved all family members equally from the depth of her heart and her love of the Lord was a huge part of what made her who she was. Emmie is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that will miss her dearly. A special thank you to Jim and Sharon Gillingham and all who supported Emmie over the years.
