Obituary for Joan Anderson
Mrs. Joan Anderson of Oakwood, Ontario passed away on January 1, 2021 at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario. Loving wife of 47 years to Thomas Anderson and mother to daughter and son, Vanessa (Anderson) Rowland and John Anderson, and sister to Marlene (Urquhart) Whalen, NB. Joan Marie (née Urquhart) Anderson was born in Saint John, New Brunswick where she graduated as a Registered Nursing Assistant working at Saint John General Hospital and the New Brunswick Protestant Orphans Home until moving to Ontario where she was married and became a dedicated wife and mother in Oakwood.
She was preceded by her parents Evva (née Hill) Urquhart and Willard Urquart, and her brother Donald Urquhart, who all resided in Saint John, NB. She will be dearly missed by her husband, children, sister, son-in-law Jeffrey Rowland, daughter-in-law Raelene (Hodgson) Anderson, grandchildren Emmett Anderson, Rachelle and Devon Rowland, brother-in-law Fred Simpson (NB), several nieces and nephews; as well as many family members and friends in Ontario and New Brunswick.
Mrs. Anderson was a woman of great faith, who dedicated many hours to the Saint John's Presbyterian Church in Cresswell, ON where she taught Sunday school for many years, served as president of the Saint John's Presbyterian Women's Group (Cresswell), recently became an Elder and served on the Board of Managers. She was also the representative to the Lindsay Presbyterial Women's Missionary Society (WMS) and a member of the Cresswell Prayer Group.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date at the Saint John's Presbyterian Church in Cresswell, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saint John's Presbyterian Church would be greatly appreciated by the family. Any flower donation would be appreciated during the Celebration of Life which will be held at a future date.
