Joyce was raised on the Lamb Homestead just outside of Fenelon Falls with her Grandparents, Samuel and Elizabeth Lamb, her Uncle and Aunt, Allister and Wilhelmina Lamb and their nine children, Cecil, Ivan, Allan, Ross, Dave, Gloria, Eleanor, Dorothy and Murray. Joyce attended school with her cousins at Lamb's School and later Fell's School. While Cyril worked at GM to support the family and farming operation, Joyce tended to the farm, worked the fields, milked the cows and raised their children, all while being a hockey and baseball Mom and babysitting their first three Grandchildren.

Joyce worked at the Spinners in Fenelon Falls, the Arsenal in Lindsay and later with Canada Post delivering mail to residents of RR2 Little Britain and her favourite job, running the snack bar at Corneil's Auction Barn every Friday night.

Joyce lived a life of service, to her family, to her Church, the Valentia United Church, and later the Valentia Church and Community Centre, the Little Britain Arena and Community Center and the Little Britain Community Baptist Church as well as serving for over 25 years as a Community Care Volunteer.
