Obituary for Linda Kathleen McLaughlin (Hineson)

McLaughlin, Linda - Defying the odds and overachieving until the end, Linda McLaughlin passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. Linda was much loved by her four children and their spouses/partners, her four grandchildren, sister, nephew, grandnieces, and other family members. And she was revered by the countless others whose lives she touched through her 81 years. Whether it was as a lab technician at Sick Kids Hospital and the Addiction Research Foundation (its first lab technician), teacher, township councillor, administrator, accountant, political and labour organizer, coach, friend, or companion; she dedicated her entire life to supporting and helping others. She gave voice to the voiceless, spoke truth to power, and relentlessly fought for the principles and causes she believed in. She was unwavering in those fights and never backed down from doing (and saying) what was right, and fearlessly calling out injustice when she saw it. And she brought humour and laughter along the way. She lived her life in service to others, and with the greatest honour, dignity, and compassion.

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held at the Janetville Hall, 693 Janetville Rd, Janetville, ON L0B 1K0, on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 11:00am until 3:00pm. and what a life it was.

Thank you to the incredibly caring, patient, and compassionate staff at bother the Lindsay Caressant Care Retirement Homes and the Ross Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care they provided to Linda that last few months.  No more fights to fight, Mom. Time to rest.

With grief, love, gratitude and many found memories,
The McLaughlin family
