Obituary for Lucy Baranuik

Lucille Baranuik was the first child born to William Nestor Pasowisty and Margaret Elizabeth Rainka in Elk Ranch, Manitoba on March 16, 1928. After the family settled in Toronto in 1949, Lucille began working as a Key Punch Operator at Smith Transport, retiring in 1993 to the home she lovingly built in Pleasant Point. An avid gardener and cook, Lucy always loved to talk about her flowers, vegetable garden and recipes. Her daughter Sylvia was the center of her life and they were inseparable until Sylvia’s passing in 2015. Lucy was a loving sister to Gus (Vivian) and Bernice (Bob) and predeceased by Victor (Frances and Lorraine) and Ronald. She will be dearly missed by her long-time friend Bill Valleau, her sister and brother and generations of nieces and nephews. A private funeral will be held on Tuesday May 4th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. If desired, a memorial donation to the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
