Obituary for Marceline Violet Peshal (Earle)

Peshal, Marceline - On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, Marceline Peshal passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95.   Predeceased by her husband, Clifford, in 2012.  She will be missed dearly by her children, April (John), Doug (Tammy), Donny (Jackie), Steven (Judie), Joan (Ted) and her half-brother, Bruce (Linda).   Predeceased by her son, David, and her brother, Allen.   Marceline was grandma to thirteen (Clayton, Janie, Jesse, Jessica, Nevin, Benjamin, Daniel, Stephanie, Kristi, Matthew, Lori, Holly and Mark) and great grandma to eighteen.

She will forever be known for her date squares, butter tarts and cabbage rolls.   Her love for her cats, hours spent knitting for new baby arrivals and long walks were among her many favourite things.  A cancer survivor, she showed all that she was feisty right to the end.

Special thank you to the staff at Extendicare Oshawa for making her comfortable.

At her request, there will be no service and her cremated remains will be placed with her husband’s ashes in Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay.

Immortality  by Clare Harner

Do not stand
By my grave, and weep.
I am not there,
I do not sleep—
I am the thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints in snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle, autumn rain.
As you awake with morning’s hush,
I am the swift, up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the day transcending night.
Do not stand
By my grave, and cry—
I am not there,
I did not die.
