Obituary for Jacqueline Martell

MARTELL, Mary “Jacqueline” (nee Judge) – Passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Lindsay at the age of 92 ½. Jackie was predeceased by Frederick Martell, her beloved husband of 64 years and the great love of her life for nearly 70 years. Loving mother of Maureen Martell, Colleen Hagert (Steven), Ralph Martell and Sean Martell (Joan). Cherished Nana of Lauren Hagert, Megan Hagert, Erin Martell, and Hailey Martell. Predeceased by her parents Ralph Judge and Mary (née Conlan).

Jackie was born in Toronto, and spent her childhood in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and Moose Jaw. She returned to Toronto and was a proud graduate of the Loretto Academy, and the Loretto Commercial School.  She moved to Montreal, where she met Fred in a church play, married and had their family. The family moved to Lindsay in 1969, with the opening of Sir Sandford Fleming College. Jackie was devoted to community service, actively participating in Meals on Wheels, teaching literacy, delivering books to seniors, and serving on school council. Jackie was an active member of St. Mary’s Church for over 50 years where she and Fred served as leaders in the pre-marriage program, and she participated in the church decorations committee and the CWL.

Visitation will take place at the Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Thursday, December 1st from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 31 Russell Street East on Friday, December 2nd at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.
