Obituary for Pauline Wheelband (Gates)

Wheelband, Pauline - Passed away quietly after a long illness on the eve of Thursday, December 16, 2021. Pauline Gates, born on August 28, 1927 in Gerrards Cross, England to parents James and Florence (née Haywood) Gates. Sister of the late Dudley and survived by Cynthia.

She emigrated to Canada in 1949 to marry Alan Wheelband (1990). Together they raised Richard and Teresa (John Strachan). Pauline was Grandmother to Jaime-Lee (Eric), Andrea (Danny), Ryan, and Amanda (David). Great grandmother to Jade, Ben, Keiren, Vincent and Elias.

Pauline had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. She started each day with a positive spirit as anyone could attest who called her in the morning and would receive her trademark "Good Morning!". She gave it her all in every task imaginable, such as baking and sewing and to answering as many questions as possible on her beloved show Jeopardy that she watched every night.

She lived in Kleinburg to raise her family from 1963 until recently, moving to Lindsay to be closer to family. Since 1997, she was a proud resident of The Gables in Kleinburg where she formed many great friendships and emersed herself into the building's social life. Her unit was always a beehive of activity with numerous drop-ins all day long. She will be greatly missed by Chris Wilson ,Mary Graham and the rest of gang at The Gables. Our family is so grateful, for these friendships meant so much to Pauline.

Our family will never be the same. We will miss her, but we will keep her memory alive and pass down the stories of her greatness to the little ones mentioned above. Her spirit will continue to float among us and those still to come.
