PERDUE, Simon Gerard – It is with sadness that Simon’s family relates that he entered into rest peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Simon, at the age of 69, was the beloved husband and best friend of Joan (née Herlihey). They were in their 46th year of marriage. He was the loving and proud father of Justin, and father-in-law to Dr. Sarah Brode, whom he adored. Simon cherished the thought of his imminent status as a grandfather to a little boy. He hoped that his grandson would enjoy the shade of the maple tree he planted for him.

Simon was predeceased by his father Alvin, his mother Cecile (Morrissey), as well as his sisters Regina Roberge and Margaret Downey. He is survived by his brother, Joseph (Lorraine) and sister, Patricia (Larry Leahy); as well as by brothers-in-law Peter Roberge (Margrethe Hansen) and Eric Downey (Meg Murphy).

He is also survived by in-laws Raymond & Coleen Herlihey, Stephen & Joan Herlihey and Darlene and Steve Hobbs. He was the ‘fun’ uncle of several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, Downeyville, on Saturday, March 6th at 11:00a.m. Due to COVID-19, in-person attendance will be limited to immediate family and is by invitation only. A Zoom stream of the ceremony will be available. Details provided on the Stoddart Funeral Home website.
