Obituary for Susan Jane Johnston (Johnston)

Johnston, Susan – Sue passed away peacefully with family by her side after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. Sue had a passion for animals which began at a very early age, which continued to the end. She rescued and fostered numerous animals through the years, everything from squirrels to turtles, kittens to ducks.  In her younger years Sue was an active member of the Salvation Army band as their drummer.

Predeceased by her parents Ernie (1982) and Dorothy (2019), aunts, uncles, and survived by her uncle John Maslen (Anne) and aunt Dale Maslen. Dear sister to Judy Switzer (Glen) and Karen Howard (Kelly Ewin). Remembered by nephew Andrew Howard (Bethany), and nieces Shannon Switzer, Kerri Hutchinson (Paul) and Julie Hough (Paul).

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. If desired, a memorial donation may be made to the Kawartha Lakes Humane Society or the Salvation Army Community Church, Lindsay which would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank the ‘Special Angels’ at the Ross Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate care.
