Obituary for William Gabriel ""Bill"" Muzzi

Muzzi, William Gabriel - Born on June 16, 1929 in Emsdale, Ontario, Bill passed on February 22, 2024 in his 95th year. Bill will be terribly missed by his wife of nearly 70 years Judy Muzzi (nee Brown) and his children Greg (Denyse) (Kathy deceased), Jeff (Leslie), Laura (Bob), Andrea (Ed) and Matt (Alison). His legacy of grandchildren Trina, Kryse (Eddie), Stephen, Sandra (Colin), Dan, Mike, Sarah (Ogi), Carolynn, Adam (Tom), Quinn, Jessica, Jen (Rudi), Austin, Dylan, his 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Survived by his brothers Sam (Rebecca deceased) and Tony and his sisters, Tina, Rose and Marie. Predeceased by his sister Josie, brother Ralph (Meike) and his parents Bruno and Carolina. Bill was loved by his in-laws, Carole and Chuck Spellen, Steve and Barb Brown and Di Knowles. Predeceased by Gus Brown and Adele Bryce.

As the eldest son, Bill left school at age 14 to work with his father to help support the large and growing family of Muzzis. As an outstanding baseball player, he had a tryout with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1950’s but with the lack of steady employment and a growing family, Bill moved to Toronto and worked in the manufacturing sector eventually becoming a co-owner of Autodyne. Upon retirement Bill and Judy were able to travel extensively and thoroughly enjoyed their retirement. They relocated to Lindsay Ontario to support Judy’s aging parents and made many close friends and  were able to live on their own until January of 2024. Family was the top priority of Bill and was his crowning achievement, but he was equally proud of his long friendships including special friends Anne and Ben Sibbing, as well as others too numerous to mention. A man of deep religious faith, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and parishioner of St. Marys Catholic Church in Lindsay.

Visitation will be held in Lindsay at Stoddart Funeral Home (24 Mill St.) on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 am followed  by a mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church ( 31 Russell St. E) at 1:30 pm immediately followed by a reception.

We want to express our deepest thanks to the staff on the 4th floor of Ajax/Pickering hospital who showed compassion and care to our family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS society of Canada or the Ottawa Heart Institute.
