Obituary

The family of Francis “Frank” McColl, are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Friday, April 30, 2021, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Frank at the age of 75, was the beloved husband of Charlene in their 54th year of marriage. Loving Dad of Chris (Kim), Julie (Chris) and Mary Frances (Kevin). Cherished Papa of Casey, Maggie and Julia, who brought him an infinite amount of love and joy. Frank was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first grandson, Malcolm “Francis” Reginald. Honourary Papa of Brad, Ty and Zac. Dear brother of Catherine (the late Frank), Joe (Maureen), Dan (Ruth), Marg (Dave), John (Sharon), Greg (Wendy), Marion (Ron) and the late infant Peter. Frank will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends.

Frank was incredibly proud of his life-time family home, he was a hardworking farmer, and a loving and dedicated family man. Like a farmer he loved to talk about the weather, and it was no surprise to the family that in an instant the weather changed to a spontaneous, blustery snow squall that carried him away. Frank ran his own repair shop on the farm for 45 years, and always made time to stop, talk and solve the world’s problems with his customers. He was a friend to all and loved to help others in any way he could. He looked forward to friends and family stopping by, they were always welcome.

A private family Mass will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday at 1:00 pm. An Interment of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, attendance is limited to immediate family only, and the Mass can be viewed via ZOOM at: https://zoom.us/j/93273874003?pwd=NG1rZVd3Ym1lb2N6a21iMUdPME1sdz09

If desired, a memorial donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, or St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Restoration Fund would be appreciated by the family. Online donations and condolences can be made at www.stoddartfuneralhome. A celebration of life will be held in Frank’s honour, at his family farm at a later date.

The family would like to thank our friends and family for all their love and support. As well, Dr. M. Stone, Dr. G. Richard-Carpentier, the nursing staff on Kidd 9 of Kingston General Hospital, his “girls” at the cancer care clinic at Peterborough Regional Health Centre and the Emergency Staff at the Ross Memorial Hospital.

Jack and I are very sorry to hear about Frank's passing. My Dad (Bob Michie) spent many happy hours 'chewing the rag' with Frank over the years and, when I got my first car, there was no one else I would trust to take care of it, and several subsequent cars after that. After Jack and I got married Frank called and offered us a good deal on half a beef and we were delighted to enjoy some of the McColl beef. Frank always had a laugh and obviously enjoyed life to the fullest. Heaven is a better place for having him in it. Our sympathy to you Charlene and to your family.

I never had any doubts about Frank’s position on anything. He left little room for misinterpretation.
I always looked forward to parking the trailer at his place and the talks we would have. My deepest condolences to Frank’s family.
